Coach for this squad is Daniel McDonald.

This squad will offer enhanced training for the most committed swimmers aiming to achieve the highest competitive achievements. It will be based in the ‘train to train’ phase of LTAD and will enable swimmers ample opportunity to achieve regional and national qualification plus the foundation for progression through Senior Competitive towards Senior Performance training.

Aims:

  • To prepare swimmers for the demands of senior swimming with an enhanced aerobic training focus.
  • To develop a basic understanding of the importance of land based exercise and increase strength levels.
  • To develop stroke techniques specific to the needs of the individuals as they grow.
  • To refine skills for higher levels of competition.
  • Giving individuals the opportunity to be achieving county, regional & national qualification.

Squad Criteria:

  • Age: 10-14 years inclusive
  • Attend and complete a minimum of 5 sessions per week
  • Achieve set training standards as outlined by the coaching staff
  • Competing at regular competitions as directed by squad coach
  • Adhere to club code of conduct

Kit Requirements:  Mandatory for training sessions are:

  • Kickboard - Example: WIN Universal Kickboard, with handles
  • Pull Buoy - Example: WIN Pullbuoy Solid, Senior size
  • Short Fins - Example: Kiefer Rubber Short Fins
  • Finis pulling ankle strap/leg band
  • Finis Agility Hand Paddles
  • Snorkel
